23rd November – A Life Changing Experience!

A few days back while coming back from a road trip from Kasauli, I happened to meet some people on the roadside, who were helping the road accident victims. I too stopped there to offer my help and saw that there were few men in uniform kind of attire along with other civilians. I checked with them and got to know that they belonged to Shah Satnam Ji Green S welfare force, a section of Dera Sacha Sauda, and were helping based on the inspiration of their Spiritual Master. I offered them some financial help (I thought they would accept some ‘daan chanda’), but they politely refused. However, they invited me to come to Sirsa on 23rd Nov and attend the birthday celebrations of the founder of Dera Sacha Sauda, Shah Mastana ji. So I and my husband decided to go there.
We reached Dera Sacha Sauda, Sirsa on 23rd Nov morning at 10:00 am. Since the prayers (they refer to it as Naamcharcha) were to begin at 12:00 pm, we decided to take a look around. There was a huge in pour of people. Inside the campus of the Ashram, we first entered a massive building called as sachkhand hall; there were huge queues of hundreds of people. On inquiry, we got to know that they were the volunteers who were waiting for their turn to donate blood. ‘What?? That is impossible!’ I thought to myself, I was completely astonished to see the spirit of humanity thriving here.
We saw the Ashram campus, just nearby was the huge Shah Satnam Ji Super Speciality Hospital, where we saw an ongoing free medical checkup camp. There were super speciality doctors from general physicians to ENT, Eye specialist, orthopedic, Psychiatrist, psychologists etc; and there were volunteers who were helping with administrative tasks too. There was a huge rush of patients, who had come in from various states and areas. We got to know that this free medical checkup camp is organised every month and treatment for poor people is free of cost, this is as per the teachings of their current Master, Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh ji. What a great service to humanity. If medical bodies all over can start such a regime, then many lives can be saved in time.

It was time for prayers, so we came back to Ashram and got seated with other lakhs of volunteers in the huge pandal. Holy bhajans/songs were sung and then the recording of holy sermons of current Spiritual Master, Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh ji Insan, was played. This was followed by half an hour of meditation; despite the massive gathering, there was pin drop silence and ‘zen’ like ambiance.

After this, as a part of the Welfare Drive, 15 tricycles were distributed to the physically challenged persons, 11 poor families were given rations for a month, 11 poor folks were given blankets and 11 poor folks were distributed warm winter clothes. After this, parshaad and langar (food) was given to these lakhs of  people seated there(I am talking about more than 50 lakh); surprisingly, the food was served in a matter of 30-40 minutes by hundreds of volunteers, to the complete crowd.
We had our food, looked around a bit and decided to leave. It was 4:30 by then and we got to know that in total 4307 units of blood and been donated and 4414 patients had received checkup and treatment in medical camp. Irrespective of what is projected in the media, this organisation and its followers have stayed true to the vision and words of their Guruji, which is also a testimony of their firm faith. We then left, feeling grateful to witness this event, and finding our thought pattern changed about this organisation; along with determination to do some good for someone who really needs to be helped.
