International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed by United Nations on December 3rd every year since 1992. The days aims to create awareness about disability issues and the dignity, well being and rights of the disabled.

Disability is defined as an impaired condition when compared to a standard individual of the group. Due to their different appearances or conditions, the disabled people have to face pity, discrimination, lack of employment opportunities and social stigma. But there are some organisations which work towards making the lives better for the disabled. The socio-spiritual and non-profit organisation, Dera Sacha Sauda is currently headed by Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan. As you might have read in other posts, Guruji promotes selfless humanitarian services and one of them is ‘Yaad-E-Murshid Free Polio and Disability Correction’ organised annually. Super specialist doctors examine polio patients, conduct their surgeries and operations and provide them free calipers, medicines, crutches, special shoes etc.
