So yesterday I was at a friend’s birthday party where I had a great time devouring my favorite dishes and talking to the people around. It was awesome and fun, until some people around us started drinking alcohol. It is a frequent and popular practice at parties. I’ve heard that it eases people’s social inhibitions, contributes to a festive atmosphere and adds to a decorative theme.

But all this doesn’t really make sense to me. I know people continue to do what they do, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try and challenge their unhealthy habits and mindset. So I told them about an article titled “Cow Milk Party“, which I read few days ago. The name itself is so unique!

Amidst commonly found wine and cocktail parties, cow milk party was initiated by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji (The present Spiritual Master of Dera Sacha Sauda, Haryana) during one of his film’s premiere. During the event, as many as 19,713 people had cow milk together which created a world record in itself. The representative of Asia book of Records praised the efforts of Ram Rahim Ji.

During the premiere, Ram Rahim Ji revealed the two most important motives of the new party. Firstly, to save ‘Mother Cow’ & second to prevent people specially the youth from consumption of alcohol.

He also launched a national signature campaign requesting government to grant cow the status of ‘Rashtriya Gaumata’. Many eminent personalities were also present on that occasion from social and political fields. They also praised the efforts of Ram Rahim Ji in giving new and healthy direction to the society.

Alcohol, when consumed frequently leads to addiction and loss of intellect. People make wrong decisions when they are drunk. Alcoholic people end up breaking families. Alcohol is a slow poison. Hence, the holy book Bible also warns about the consumption of alcohol!

“Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler, whoever is led astray by them is not wise.”

Moreover, we are morally obliged to save cow from being slaughtered as no religion allows us to eat the meat or beef. In India, children are taught to respect the cows as their mother right from the childhood.

So is this the way how we teach them? How does killing mean respecting? How can someone be so cruel with such an innocent animal? It’s nothing but a devilish act.

Philosophically or spiritually, we need to realize that every creature of God has an intrinsic value. It is our moral duty to care for their well being. If we can’t help them, we should at least not exploit them. So let us all adopt and pass on the lessons, for a healthy and happy future.
