National Parents’ Day
The last Sunday of the month of July is seen as National Parents’ Day. After celebrating mother’s day in May and father’s day in June, very rightfully comes the parents’ day in July, when one can express the love and gratitude towards all the parents together.
The most precious gift from nature is our parents. Nothing could possibly fill their void in our lives. A child’s life development is greatly influenced by the role that parents play.
The purpose of National Parents’ Day is to support conscientious parenting and constructive child-rearing by parents. It also swings the other way, as the day honors parents’ selfless deeds and the indestructible bond they share with their children.

National Parents’ Day is fairly new, as opposed to Mother’s day, father’s day and grandpa’s day which have been celebrated since ages.
In 1994, President Bill Clinton lawfully signed a Congressional Resolution (36 U.S.C. § 135), initiating National Parents’ Day. “Recognising, uplifting and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children”, well said, was acknowledged in the resolution.

Parents’ – the embodiment of Godly love:
Do not forgot to take your parents’ blessings on this National Parents’ Day.
Parents are an embodiment of Godly love and keep note that the head should bow down when there is God in front.

Citing examples from nature, only fruitful trees bend down and are taken care of, water stays only in valleys and not mounts. Thus, bowing your head in front of parents/elders won’t lower the position in other’s eyes.

National Parents’ Day is a promising occasion for generations to come.
While the world is westernizing, children are following the routes of an independent lifestyle free of restrictions. The younger minds are prone to errors and make mistakes they ought to regret their whole life.
Hence parents’ guidance is extremely important for the children to learn the difference between good and bad.
National Parents’ Day offers at least a day together in the life of parents and children, making them realize their value in the new lives of children.
Celebrations on National Parents’ Day: What can parents do to strengthen their position?
National Parents’ Day is an effort to strengthen a bond between children and parents and a day for children to express gratitude towards everything they are fortunate to have.
Parents can take baby steps to reach the young hearts of their children:
- Friends > Fear- If parents are friends of their children, the children feel more secure to share with them every detail of their lives. This brings every right and wrong thing happening in the sight of the parents and henceforth an appropriate lesson for the children to learn ahead.
- Values taught in childhood will help in adulthood. Adulthood/Teenage is a vulnerable period of life where one tends to easily slip on the road of life. This, lessons taught in childhood will shape the adulthood of the children.
- Lower your expectations.
Lessons learnt by experience cannot have the same impact as lessons taught by advice. Thus, do not expect that children can choose the righteous every time.
This National Parents’ Day 2024, spend more time with family. Try to come closer, and spend some exclusive time with every child as well. Plan some activities as a family – meals, sitting together, park, sightseeing, market etc.
