Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Conviction: The Case is Not Over Yet!

Amidst much ruckus over the sentencing of Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan on August 25th, the case has recently shown some interesting development!

In a press conference, a woman named Suminder Kaur, who claims to be the niece of Khatta Singh, the former driver of Dera Chief, has reportedly revealed some shocking facts today and the media has got some more masala to put into the Dera curry.

Suminder Kaur told media that she was being forced by Khatta Singh to pose false accusations against Saint Gurmeet Rahim Rahim Singh Insan. She had been living in the Dera premises for 16 years and returned home in April this year. Shortly after August 25^th, Khatta Singh started forcing her to give false allegations against the Dera Chief.

“Khatta Singh has been conspiring to defame Dera. He tried to manipulate me but when I denied, I was threatened and assaulted. Moreover, he attempted to have me kidnapped,” said Suminder at the press conference.

Khatta Singh came to Dera Sacha Sauda, Haryana in 1988. He has been Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan’s driver from 2002 to 2011.

While Ram Rahim Singh accepted the judgement of Panchkula’s CBI Court and hopes for justice in High Court, Khatta Singh remains CBI’s most important witness. But note-worthily, he has already changed his statements many times. In such a situation, the authenticity of his statements is under a huge question mark.Cold feet, eh?

As far as the proceedings of the case are concerned, there have been only allegations by social media and none of them has been verified by the police officials searching the Dera Ashrams for evidences supporting the conviction. The content in circulation over social media seems to be more of judgemental and nowhere states the views of general public, let alone the Dera supporters.

When I come back home from college, or you come back from your office after a long work day, what we get served is mostly the dramatization of how these cases are “thought” to unfold. Even the Arushi Talwar murder case was not a lesson enough for the drama-loving Indian media houses. What they have brought up now is Hardik Patel as a prime-time snack for the viewers to feed (and choke) on! News channels have now become those Saas-bahu daily soaps which are boring and repetitive, but definitely most creative about the NatyaRupanatarns.

But I so wish they realize this soon, its high time to find new STORIES! 😉
